Living inTexas in the 80s and working as a ALandman@ I decided it was time for a different career. As a Landman I spent a few years in the oil-business proving land ownership I really enjoyed the diggin through records. So could I translate that to another career.
I had been working in genealogy in my spare time for a few years. So it made sense that I could use that ability of diggin through records to build my business. Once that decision was made, I knew I needed a name for my business. I always say AI look for dead people@ and that got me to Diggin Up Bones. Yes I know that it is a Randy Travis song (which I also like) but it fit so well with what I was doing that I kept it.
In the beginning, I was working on the father=s genealogy (Truman) for a client. We located her Father=s and great-great-Grandfather=s graves (on mountains in West Virginia) as well as her half-brothers and half-sisters. In this process, we found that her Great-Great-Grandfather fought in the War of 1812.
Through word-of mouth my business started to grow and the work has not stopped. I love what I do. I love researching in cemeteries, old home places, and old documents. I have solved family history information from Ichabod Crane area (Sleepy Hollow) to Pocahontas. My customers are wonderful and most have me do a complete family book for them stretching as far back as I can go with dates (this takes a few months). While I have been doing this for 25 years it never gets old.
So when you are ready I will be happy to discuss with you the options for your family history. Shoot me an email and let=s begin.
